An exploration into the magical, metaphysical world of shoe fitting In today's post, we share two ideas to consider in finding your perfect summer sandal. The first speaks to the barebones practical idea of ‘which fit is best for my foot?’ - based on a physically deductive method. The more easy to capture ‘wide feet’, ‘long feet’, ‘been-dancing-too-long- bumpy feet’ gives us an easy check box list of things to consider with our key ‘365’ styles. But then there is the (perhaps) bigger consideration of which sandal ‘fits’ the privilege of making it into your life as a long wearing, multi-purpose, conversation-starting statement sandal. A design idea we cycle through every season in the (re)creation of our ‘always on’ 365 styles. With this in mind, let’s talk first about the all important practicalities. Wide Feet If your feet are wide - The best styles in our ‘365’ sandal collection for wide feet include our highly reviewed and much adored Arkestra fisherman sandal, as well as the (also highly reviewed and loved) Visby Sandal. Both offer good foot coverage, and the all important arch support in the midsole that speaks to the practical imperatives of ‘all day on your feet’ wear. Long & Narrow Feet If your feet are Narrow or long - It’s all about the Neptune sandal. With adjustable velcro straps covering both the arch and ankle, the midsole on this style runs slightly longer than other sandals in our 365 collection making them a favorite for customers with dancer length toes. A handy guide for evaluating our new slip on styles. Three mules, multiple wearing applications. This season in dreaming up our slip on situations, our design team were musing at things from 2 angles. First - we are thinking about the end use. Dreaming up the places and spaces in which the shoes need to support our creative customers on their daily run about. The second place we conjured up our new silhouettes was from a more functional consideration of the many different types of feet - from wide to narrow, to orthotics wearers to tick a box for all the feet. With this in mind, let’s talk first about the all important practicalities. THE FUTURE MULE End Use - Active / The 5km shoe Good For - Wide Feet, Orthotics Wearers, Leaving at the door for fast getaways. “I want to feel relaxed, I want to feel happy.” These are the ideas we were circling in the creation of our new Future mule. Executed in our exclusive washed shag suede, the textural finish of this material creates a mood that is type of ‘ath-leisure’ jersey tracksuit influenced with a radical twist. We were imagining these shoes, waiting patiently at your door for the inevitable quick getaways - coffee runs, quick dog walks, and park strolls. The radical appears in the removable innersole which means you can convert this slide to Orthotic friendly heaven and still maintain your fashion dignity. THE DELPHINE - INK End Use - The Hybrid, 3km - 5 km shoes depending on your predisposition to slide situations. Good For - Narrower Feet, slides with socks situations, leaving under your desk for quick meetings. “I want to get it done in bouncy style!” When we dreamed up the Delphine in Ink we were imaging them as the perfect work-play hybrid mule. Executed in intentionally classic Midnight navy leather for a hit of ‘getting-it-done’ work attitude, we kept the mood of this upper conversational with the additional mix of electric peach topstitch and boning at the throat of this style. Set on our classic Olympia rubber outsole, this unit has a lot of spring and wears bouncy under foot, meaning you can run from the studio to the salon with ease. The perfect ‘left under your desk for a meeting change’ shoe, we also imagined them being worn cosy at the weekend on cooler spring days with socks and cuffed denims. THE BADU - TOFFEE End Use - Sharp, 3km shoes. Good For - Wide Feet, Long feet, high arches and the days you need to look like you are wearing a heel but want the feeling of flats. “I want to look sharp but feel comfortable” Badu has been one of our most loved styles to date and wins the championship of ‘sharp’ flats in our collection. This season we wanted to feel deep into the sharp elements of this style, and took it to another level with the luxe shiny Toffee leather execution we dreamed up here. What you can’t see online is actually how soft the upper is. A favorite amongst our inhouse team, we have been noting ‘zero wear in time’ on our explorations of wearing this mule.
