Introducing the Daily Intention lace up!
Sourced from our new supplier D.Samson industries located in Colombo, Sri Lanka - the introduction of the Daily Intention sneaker represents not only a new sourcing region for our brand, but also access to a different kind of manufacturing process for Radical Yes footwear.
Inspired by the idea that many daily small practices can lead to greater change, we made the decision to start working with D.Samson, not only because of their extensive Fair Work Audit accreditations, but also because of their capabilities in producing outsoles created using FSC Mix Certified recycled Rubber.
We have been trying to source recycled rubber compounds for our outsoles for sometime, which was one of our original reasons for opening our own outsole molds, however the sourcing of recycled rubber in our small quantities in China proved difficult. The extension of our outsole offer in this direction represents a significant shift in our componentary sourcing practices.
In keeping with this factories strong affinity with sustainability and best practice manufacturing, D.Samson were also able to help us source a 100% Organic Cotton upper and a 100% organic cotton lining sourced from a Pakistan mill, to bring a conscious and modern update to the vision we had for a traditional 70s inspired Plimsole trainer.
What does Organic cotton even mean and why is it better for the planet?
Instead of toxic pesticides, organic farming uses crop rotation, cover crops and organic fertilizers to create richer soils.
This farming approach, which replaces dangerous chemicals with natural alternatives and leans into old school agricultural techniques not only protects waterways and soil regeneration, it also spares farmers of dangerous levels of exposure to toxic chemicals, and is in many ways a farming practice that better echoes our own brand philosophy to ‘hasten slowly’.
