Radical Yes 'Arkestra' Fisherman Sandal - Ice Blue (ECO PU Non-Leather)

We believe every flat shoe wardrobe should have a fisherman sandal. Here's why - t-bar strap toe coverage makes them everyday appropriate for work type things (and no-time-for-a-pedicure friendly), while the rib cage straps on the upper give them a dramatic dressed-up feeling for events. Designed for those times you need something a little sharp, but want to remain firmly grounded (flat shoe liberation!) our new Arkestra sandals will bring summer magic in palettes inspired by the infinite and cosmic realms. 

Before your imagination runs away with you let us explain a little more about the more pragmatic details of the new outsole we have built. This is a one-piece stacked resin construction finished with a graded rubber outsole. In our mix of sandals it would sit in the 'sharp' spectrum designed for wearing to events and less 'active' days. Like our Sun-Ra sandals they are structured under foot and make a satisfying 'click-click' sound as you walk - kind of like a clog only with a touch more flex. In signature Radical Yes style (also like Sun Ra), they are also heavily padded through the footbed to provide you with a feeling of cushion like support. 

Obviously being a brand obsessed with flat shoes, we thought a lot about the height - and placed careful consideration on getting this flat-form at perfectly wearable proportions, rising to a gentle 40mm height through the heel and graduating to a soft landing 30mm height through the ball of the foot. The Iceblue silhouette has also been executed in a vegan friendly Eco-PU upper with a cushioned Eco-Pu base making this style easy to keep clean. Complimented with a chunky buckle detail, Arkestra is the modern take on a fisherman shoe you've been dreaming of. 

Please note this style is running about a 1/2 size smaller than usual Radical Yes fits. We recommend checking the size guide to find your correct size and note that most existing RY customers have sized up from their 'usual' size in styles like Saturn Return or Journey. If you are normally between sizes please size up.

This is a limited run experimental colour inspired by the eternity found in broad summer skies. It's a palette we intended to bring joy and a sense of optimism.

To ground, we balanced the lightness of the Iceblue upper with the depth of a darker cornflower blue through the innersole bed not only to balance and surprise your eyes, but also for pragmatic wearability. The palette idea was a bit like a horizon, graduating from light to deep. We made the lining on the upper to match the lightness of the blue so it was a really monochromatic-convinced feeling in the palette. The floating blue feeling is anchored with the modern black outsole, designed again with the realities of urban life in mind. All finished with a large silver buckle that adds a feeling of luxe and keeps the lightness levels high.

The ice-blue works well in opposites and beautifully with earth inspired colours. So think bold mustard, mango and navy up top for work type mens-inspired silhouettes like chinos and pin tuck leg pants. Or you can make it more floaty and ethereal like the pictures here with matching tone tea slip dresses in silk and cotton. This works really well with pastel hues as well - lemon and even if your feeling really light pastel pink for the full summer re-incarnation of light. Super floaty dresses work beautifully with these shoes and give a sense of contrasted grounded-ness that is very radical yes.

Not really. Because the upper has been intentionally backed by an ECO-PU facing to prevent stretch on the ankle straps, these beauties really will hold their shape for years to come. 

We recommend wearing these toe tappers with an attitude of love and affection.

Start by waterproofing with a quality spray - we recommend and sell Waproo. If your toe tappers become wet let them dry and dust down with a soft cloth
