Summer Road Trip + Our Sorrento Pop-Up at Lumiere Art & Co.

It’s always been a family tradition to skip the city and head down the coast for the summer. Red Hill, Shoreham, Flinders and all the way around to Sorrento are all part of the pointy end of the Mornington Peninsula and some of our favourite places in Australia. In fact, many of our summer styles were inspired by the mix of rustic forest meets, family holiday meets luxury beach lifestyle that can all be found in this part of the world.

The striped cotton drill linings in our Vegan Kindness shoe are a definite homage to Sorrento beach living and the Hessian Kindness style (pictured below) was another style inspired by the artist retreat vibe of Red Hill. Perfect pairings with white linen and weekend denim.

It was totally serendipitous that Emma from Lumiere Art & Co was opening her store in Sorrento this summer, as we’d been looking for a beach pop-up throughout the year. It was at the Big Design Market, where we both chatted and finally realised our summer dream!

We are THRILLED to be packing our bags and setting up a pop-up shop-in-shop in Emma’s incredible new retail space. We'll have our entire collection of shoes, sunglasses and rings on hand starting from January 4th and running sometime until the end of the month (we’re still on holiday time). Come on down to soak up the summer vibes of our coastal location.

If you’re going to make the trip down the coast (if your not already down there soaking up the rays) we thought we’d share with you some of our favourite haunts and natural attractions. Now there’s no excuse not to hit the road and explore…

Lumiere Art & Co

Emma and I have been IG pals for sometime. I love Lumiere's beautiful take on indigo dying spliced with bold patterns and really luxe textile choices.

The shop is a stylist’s paradise. We love the way they mix art with their lifestyle products, to stunning effect. Known for their hand printed artworks, bedding, kitchen textiles and even plant stands, this is the place to shop!

Everything is also displayed on beautiful industrial influenced pieces made by Emma’s equally creative husband!

Morgan’s Beach Shack

Radical Yes Morgan's Beach Shack

The iconic casual seaside dining that every beach town needs. Baja-style Mexican fare meets coastal faves, including fish and chips and burgers, all served in a fun, colourful setting.

Stop for a frozen margarita and set yourself up amongst the kitsch decor, complete with striped umbrellas on the outdoor decking. Morgan’s Beach Shack is laid back and simple - just the vibe we want to emulate this summer season!

Cakes and Ale

Radical Yes Cakes & Ale

Foraged ingredients, organic meat, hand made cheeses, and daily fresh fish sourced from the Peninsula’s bay and ocean, make up the rest of your plate. It’s a special part of Sorrento to savour.

Peninsula Hot Springs

Just 17 mins outside of Sorrento is relaxation central! After you’ve dug into all the gems Sorrento has on offer, make a slick detour to soak away in the region’s thermal mineralised waters. An ideal detox to start off the year.

A word of warning: book ahead! The Turkish steam bath and indulgent packages are a dream, but the natural rockpool setting of the communal outdoor Bath House is equally rewarding.

Stay the Night

Radical Yes Hotel Sorrento

If these spots are sounding way too tempting to fit into a day trip, then why not stay a little longer? For last minute apartment and beach house stays, look into MyCoastline or trawl AirBnB for a find.

Hotel Sorrento is a local haunt famed for it’s nightlife and dining. It also offers Heritage suites overlooking Port Phillip Bay, or Garden Suites with private, leafy balconies. There’s an in-house day spa and golf course if you want to really live it up.
